The skydive crosswords

Since August 2000, when Zeus (the cloud gatherer) and Aeolus (the windy one) have been messing with the skies these crosswords have been entertaining, challenging and bemusing the brains of earthbound* British skydivers.

They first saw the light of day in 'Skydive the Mag', with both concise clues (for showers) and cryptic clues (for those soul-spindling days when the very heavens marshal against skydiver-kind).

I've collected them here for those new readers who would like to tweak their grey cells a little more, and anyone else who might need respite in the event of global raining.

Many of them appeared with this blurb:-

'Cutaway crossword'

Two sets of clues with the same solutions.

The main clues are elliptical and twisted,
the reserve clues are much more controllable.
Make a decision - stay with the main -
or cut away and use the reserve.

Other Puzzling Things

Currently there are eight mini-crosswords with themes other than skydiving. For those people afraid of flying.

The CrosswordHTML-ifier is a tool for fashioning well presented crosswords that can be printed or saved as web-pages.

The 3Gdoku (Graeco-Roman Sudoku or Sugodoku) are my latest creation. Take a sudoku, mix it with Euler's Graeco-Roman square and keep your wits about you when solving this one.

Paul Boorer

Paul Boorer spent over one and a half hours in freefall between 1999 and 2002 with sufficient skill to avoid killing himself.

He did, however, developed some talent for crossword setting; solely to get his name into 'Skydive the Mag'. Something which his skydiving achievements were never going to do.

This is the product of that vanity.
